In the two day drop point hunter class, attendees will learn about and make their own knife. All materials and tools will be provided as well as take home info on basic knife making techniques and helpful information.
The Knife we will be making is a 1/8" thick, 3" long blade, 7" overall length high carbon drop point hunter with a flat grind and wood or micarta handle. There will be a selection of standard handle materials to choose from. Day one will consist of class time as well as shop time. The blade will be ground and drilled, then hardened. We will temper overnight, completing the heat treat in order to finish on day two.
On day two, the blades will be sanded to desired finish and handles applied. Corby rivets and epoxy will secure the handles - enabling the class to shape and sand the handles in the afternoon. Lastly, final clean up and sharpening will be followed by a short class time on knife care, sharpening and tips on sheath making.
